Spain's national short-term rental registry was struck down the day after the EU rules it served took effect
Regulation (EU) 2024/1028 became fully applicable on 20 May 2026. Within three weeks Spain's Supreme Court had annulled the registration articles of the decree built to comply with it, holding that the State had no competence to layer a national registry over the regional ones — while leaving the data-sharing machinery standing.
